INTERVIEW: Sipi Valley Resort could be the perfect place for you while in Kapchorwa


One of the challenges still faced by Uganda’s tourism industry is a lack of investment in tourism infrastructure especially both by government and the private sector.

This leaves few of them in several top destinations in the country that then charge outrageous fees because of lack of competition.  

Sipi falls, in the towering hills of Kapchorwa is one such a place that has for long faced a challenge with accommodation facilities, but the trend is changing now with new lodges cropping up, like Sipi Valley Resort.

Pamela Amia spoke to the lodge’s current manager Grace Mugabi during a visit to the facility.



What does your Resort offer?


Sipi Valley Resort provides a haste-free getaway for people to unwind from their busy city lives. We provide accommodation to our guests year-round. In addition, we have gardens for wedding parties, camping grounds, Conference services, 24-hour operational restaurant and a fully stocked bar.


What is the occupancy level?


Currently, we have 16 cottages and hope to add on more in time to come.


What are your rates Ugandans / international people?


We charge 150,000 Ugandan Shillings for the Ugandans Bed and Breakfast while full board occupancy is 220,000 Ugandan Shillings and 60 dollars for our international guests’ bed and breakfast.



How much are the meals?

Our meals range from 25,000 Ugandan Shillings and 35,000 Ugandan shillings depending on what you order for.


What makes your resort unique?


Sipi Valley Resort is unique in a way that it gives all its customers 24-hour service by customizing the needs of the guests. Our target goal is to make sure all our customers get a memorable experience.


What are your future plans as Sipi Valley Resort?


In future we have plans of putting up more accommodation facilities. We are already putting up a conference facility and we have plans of building a swimming pool, gym, sauna and zip lining in progress and more adrenaline activities.
